America (Ship : 1795-1815) logbook, 1806-1807.

The logbook of the ship America details a shipping voyage from Salem, Mass., to Livorno (Leghorn), Italy, Dec. 1806-June 1807. The logbook does not continue while in port. The ship's home port was Salem; the owner was the firm of George Crowninshield & Sons; the master was Joseph Ropes. The logbook includes illustrations of profile views, a crew list of the merchant mariners on board, notes on shipboard occupations, and a navigation abstract. During its voyage, the America spoke the ships Cleopatra and Jane (both out of Philadelphia), Janus (out of Salem), and Romulus (out of Newbury, Mass.).
